ADDITIONAL MATERIALS
There are enough consumable materials in the Solar Energy kit for use with TWO classes of UP TO 32 students on the same day. To insure that each class has the same experiences, you may need to purchase the additional materials in the quantities listed in the table below.

OTHER THINGS TO CONSIDER
  • Activity 1, Part 2: You will need to arrange with other teachers to schedule students to record shadow lengths once an hour on their group’s Shadow Trackers. Have the students prepare the Trackers one day and then record shadows on the next sunny day.
  • There are eight compasses in the kit. Students need a compass to orient the Shadow Trackers. If you don’t want to purchase enough extra compasses so each class has their own, don’t attach the compasses to the Shadow Trackers and have the groups share them.
